Though we are in similar situations (then and now), we must not forget that we are a nation of laws. Laws, that unless we find to be immoral, we must follow. Our "leaders" in Washington have forgotten this. We are a nation of law abiding citizens for the most part, ruled by criminals and tyrants that are out to exact social justice and to "fundamentally change America." <br />

I like America the way it is you non-leading, sanctimonious schmuck! Leave America alone! Be proud of us, for better or worse! If you don't like it you are more than welcome to leave it! Want Socialism or wealth redistribution? Move to Europe! Want gov't run health care? Move to England! But leave America ALONE!! We ain't perfect but we are the best game in town and changing the rules during game play doesn't help your cause any!<br />

I read the above document and no place did I find it guarentee'd equal results. You get life, you get liberty and you get to PURSUE happiness. You might catch it, you may not, but you get to chase it and that means you have to work at getting it. Sweat a little. grunt a little. And then when you finally catch it, savor the sweetness of a gift that many have died for and many have tried to catch but failed. <br />

Inhale the aroma of freedom that wafts from the flowes laid on graves of patriots who bled to water that flower. See the disturbed ground around that flower? Under that soil lies another body freshly buried. The body of a nameless military member who went willingly in order for you to be warm beneath a blanket of freedom woven with the cloth of uniforms past and present bearing t he flag of the USA.<br />

Osama Bin Laden is dead and the world continues to spin. The left is beside their self. How can they admit that the intelligence that helped locate him was put in place by the previous administration. Water boarding, evidently, works. How can they admit that what they hold to be vile and completely reprehensible got us information that led to the killing of the most wanted man in the US? Answer? They can't. They have all but let that small piece of info go un-noticed. Instead now we hear them questioning his killing. They are wondering why we didn't take him alive. I ask the same question. BUT hold on a second.....<br />
Did he cut our citizens any slack in 2001? I didn't think so. He didn't try to take any of them alive nor did any of his henchmen. But we're better than that. Yeah. We are. And I'm all about turning the other cheek. But at some point I stop letting you slap me and at some point I stop letting you taunt me. At some point he has to pay the band if he wants to dance.<br />

Often people get told 1/2 truths. Whether by politicians or in the newspaper or even in school, "truth" is told using the lense of a political or religous ideology. And people fall for it. When they get told what they want to hear, the take it as truth and run with it. Even research can miss the real "truth" And so ti goes with me. I wrote a paper in College regarding hte FairTax and did a lot of research. or so I thought.... No more IRS, no more April 15 nonsense of rushing to mail off my tax check lke the other 40% of America, no more non-tax payers getting refunds. BUT wait a minute. That sounds too good to be true. Well guess what..... <br />

Here we are about one year overdue for a budget and we still don’t have one. Do we blame the Democrats? We could, after all they were in control of both the House and the Senate and failed to yield a budget. Do we blame the Republicans? We could, after all they refuse to cave in to the Democrats. What about the President? We could, after all he is showing ZERO leadership in the whole matter. So how about we spread the wealth. How about we point the finger at all three? Democrats left the house and senate in disarray by not passing a budget. Republicans are taking a moral stand and giving very little yet are vehemently pointing the accusatory finger at the Democrats. The president said nothing to HIS OWN PARTY when they failed to yield a budget almost one year ago. Or should we blame ourselves? After all we left Harry Reid in office and elected John <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Boehner</span> and President Obama. We, the American public, continue to vote in the same worthless bunch of non-job getting, not-my-money spending, don’t care a hoot about the public except around election, NON vote giving (President Obama then Senator Obama), lawyers into office. After all, where else do you give yourself a raise, get lifetime retirement benefits after a measly few years in your job and work as little as they do? How many months off do they get during the year? How many jobs can you NOT do your job and still keep that job? (See no budget resolution in 2011) It is time the public stood up or shut up. Vote out the useless junk we have sitting in Washington DC “representing” us and put people in with a term limit with no lifetime benefits at all! We need to take back OUR Government. I was searching for the date we, the United States, were no longer a representative republic. We have a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">POTUS</span> in office who, since election, has not been acting presidential but instead has been acting more like a King. Many on the left would hang me in <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">effigy</span> for saying such a thing and would demand proof. Need proof? Stand by for the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">proofinator</span>!!<br /><br />1) The people, nationwide, shouted from the rooftops (We do NOT want national <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Health care</span>!!" Democrats, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">acting</span> like mommies and daddies who knew better than we did, passed it and implemented in. President Obama signed it and now we have <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">nationalized</span> health care. Welcome to England and Canada.<br /><br />2) "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Obamacare</span>" was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge and Obama seams to not give a rip. He, essentially, told the law of the land, "I am going to do what I want, how I want, when I want and you will not stop me!!"<br /><br />3) The <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">DOMA</span> (Defense of Marriage Act) was a legally enacted law. Yet King Obama seams to, again, tell the law of the land "I will do what I want, how I want, when I want!" and has said outright he will not spend time or money defending it because HE thinks it is unconstitutional. Never mind how the law feels. He decides what and what will not be enforced or defended. And his side kick, the US Attorney General goes right along with him.<br /><br />4) A federal ruling said that the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">moratorium</span> on Deep Offshore oil drilling in the gulf coast (<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Louisiana</span>) is illegal and ordered <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">the</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">moratorium</span> lifted. And again King Obama said "I will do what I want, how I want, when I want!!" and ignored the order.<br /><br />5) Federal Immigration laws are a whole lot tougher than the recently passed and signed into law, Arizona Immigration Law. For whatever reason, He feels as if people who are legally (key word LEGALLY) detained should not be asked by law enforcement to produce an ID. As a citizen, from birth, when I get stopped for speeding or failure to stop at a Stop sign, they ask for my Drivers License and no one seems to get upset about that. Why?! Why is it a stretch for the law to ask for ID from anyone LEGALLY detained, regardless of skin tone, accent, hair color, religion, shoe size, ear size, eye color, etc, etc??<br /><br />6) Right up there with #5; Why is it the King is not shouting from the balcony that overlooks his serfdom and asking why the Black Panther Party thugs who were at the voting booth not being prosecuted? Could it be because his puppet in the US Attorney Generals office feels as if it is <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">OK</span> because it wasn't as bad as what "his people" went through <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_14">in the</span> 50's, 60's and 70's when they were fighting for civil rights? <br /><br />And if all of that wasn't bad enough, what about the "Queen"? She feels as if I need to be told what and what not to eat. All while she eats BBQ spare ribs? Is anyone else seeking the definition of Arrogance?<br /><br />Look, I am glad that America has finally moved past the issue of race. It has defined our society for way too long. But I also believe we were past race long before we elected our first black President. See, I think the left uses race to cover any and all <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_15">dissent </span>when it comes to discussing the President. I am white and if I convey my dis-trust of the President, if I relay my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_16">dis-</span>content with his policy's, if I talk about how he is a do nothing President more concerned with filling out his College March Madness pick sheet instead of addressing the high gas prices, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_17">well</span> it MUST be about race. It is obvious by what I said and has nothing to do with his out of whack stance on foreign policy or fiscal policy.<br /><br />He will indeed go down in the history books, as well he should. But will the history books be as honest as they should or will they, like the liberal media, protect him at all cost? Will they cover up his <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_18">ineptitude</span>? Will they talk about his golf <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_19">outing</span> while Japan nears nuclear meltdown? Will the history books talk about his blatant disregard for the will of the people? Will the history books show the truth about the years of the Obama Presidency? Only time will tell. But if I had to guess, I would say no. O wait. I am wrong. He is doing something and that is filling out his March Madness Bracket sheet. Now that is truly Presidential. Much more important than anything listed above. Who makes it out of the 1st round in the NCAA is so much more important than reassuring Israel we stand with them. <br /><br />I'm <span style="color:#000000;"><strong>not</strong></span> convinced that this POTUS thinks that way. Meaning, I am not sure that he truly sees our standing in view of the whole world as an important issue. It seems to me that the teachers protesting the Governor of Wisconsin are a very real cross section of the whole education system. The "it's all about me" mentality has invaded our educators and is being taught in our schools. Our students now feel as if ANY act we try to lay on them is outside of what is acceptable. They have forgotten their only job is to learn. They don't realize that by not learning, they are setting themselves up to be replaced by foreign labor forces.</p><p>Why do we continue to fund the Department of Education. It seems the protesters in Wisconsin are indicative of the teachers across America. We want the cake but don't want to pay for the ingredients. I am sure they know that they have it easy and have had it easy for far to long. Is it really too much to ask that you pay a part of your own health care or put in to your own retirement? Are you really willing to admit you are that childish? Evidently they are.</p><p>Why do we continue to fund the Department of Education? If I were to ask them if they feel they are doing a good job of educating our children, I am pretty sure they would say they are. Really? Why is it that according to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">infoplease</span>.com, in 2003, educational testing in 41 countries of high school students revealed the following: Math - The U.S. upper mean rank was 25<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">th</span>, tied with Spain and Latvia. Some of the countries scoring higher included China, the Czech Republic, and Liechtenstein; Reading - The U.S. was surpassed by countries such as Belgium, South Korea, Finland, and the Netherlands; Science - The U.S. ranked below many countries including the Slovak Republic, Hungary, and Iceland. Perhaps we should pay according to success and not effort?<br /></p>Maybe we should dismantle the Department of Education. It appears they aren't educating anyone except their workers in how to think of themselves above all else and rewarding failure. Wow!! Because if I recall correctly, congressman and congresswomen take an oath as well. And yet when they betray that oath nothing happens. If a military man or woman ran out on their duty or failed to uphold their oath, it is a serious offense. So why is it different for congress?<br /><br />I truly believe America is waking up to the problem with unions.<br /><br />What do unions do for me that I can't do for myself OR current laws don't do.<br />-They negotiate for me for more pay. You can't speak for yourself?<br />-They keep me form being frivolously being fired. You can't work hard and make yourself indispensable at work?<br />-They help me save for retirement. All I can say is 401(k).<br /><br />The day of the union is long passed. It is time for the antiquated unions to just go the way of the do do bird. <br /><br />I applaud the Governor of Wisconsin for having the gall to do what needs to be done. The kids (democrats) are gone and left a mess for the adults (republicans) to clean up. They seem to be steering the "old guard" towards a more conservative approach to governance. Which is fine by me.<br /><br />The Republicans had better listen to their constituency because just as surely as we voted them into power in November, we can vote NEW Republican leadership into power in the future.<br /><br />If the new Republican leadership wants to impress EVERYONE, Republican or Democrat, there are a few things they could do.<br /><br />1) Get rid of their "retirement" from just serving one term. How is it they deserve 100% retirement after one term when our men and women in uniform serve 20 years and only get 50% ? Can anyone explain that to me? Mr Speaker? Any thoughts?<br /><br />2) Dissolve the Department of Education. They aren't educating anyone except the union anyway. Obviously our nations test scores haven't gotten any better since their inception. Another failed experiment that we keep funding.<br /><br />3) Pass the Fair Tax.<br /><br />4) Pass legislation limiting Congress to two terms. Two terms period. Two terms in your lifetime. Two terms with no caveats. <br /><br />5) Require our legislators to use the new government funded health care OR pay for their own health care. They are not any better than we are.<br /><br />6) Repeal Obamacare.<br /><br />7) Privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Government shouldn't be in the business of being in business. They can't get healthcare right. They can't get social security right. Why would you think they can get mortgages right?!<br /><br />8) O yeah and last but not least... As if they have held up so much legislation that would have changed the political or the economic landscape. If I recall the House of Representatives has been under the control of the Democrat party for a while now and in the Senate they held 59 Seats as of 2008 with 2 Independents helping them along. So what does all that mean? Well 1) it isn’t all Bush’s fault as the Congress that held the paycheck was run by the Democrats, 2) The party of “No” was irrelevant as the Democrats can and did pass whatever they liked without the Republicans and 3) the complete control of Congress and the White House allowed them to spend money like a drunk sailor on a weekend liberty and then turn around and attempt to blame it on the Republicans because they wouldn’t work with the Democrats.<br /><br />Even if the debt inherited by Obama was all Bush’s fault the fact that it has quadrupled in his term means that he can “blame” 2 TRILLION of it on Bush but not the other 12 Trillion. That was spent under his administration and under his party’s Congress.<br /><br />Again I ask how is the party of “No” even relevant. What did they do to try and reign in spending? Nothing. Because there was nothing they could do! The President pretended to invite them to the table but it was a dog and pony show for his press release and his fawning media so they wouldn’t lose the tingly feeling in their leg! At no point was he really going to include them. <br /><br />Harry Reid and his party’s arrogance are what turned the election. It wasn’t the Republicans. The United States as a whole are quickly growing tired of politicians, NOT politics. To our very core, we enjoy a good fight or argument. Heck we were born out of political discourse. But we tire of the Grayson type politicians who show absolutely zero sense of common decency or decorum. We tire of watching groups like N.O.W. endorse politicians who would allow their staffers to call a woman a whore yet claim to be the National Organization for Women! Does anyone else see the hypocrisy? <br /><br />You see the left has grown a nation of entitlement junkies and they know in order to survive politically they need to enable the addiction. So they pass “health care reform” when under all the pages it is in reality Socialized medicine. And for who? It wasn’t for me. It was for the people who sit at home, collect welfare and refuse to get up off the couch, turn off Oprah and get a job! Want a job or need a paycheck? The military is always hiring! You get training, a job, a paycheck and insurance! It is time to fix the leaky faucet that is Welfare! Two years to collect it and then you are cut off. Why 2 years? Because in 2 years you can get an Associate Degree and get a better job. No money for college? The military will give you the GI Bill IF you can stay out of trouble for 4 years AND you can go while you are on active duty. There are a few recounts that will occur and some are still counting initially but a few things have crossed my mind since.<br /><br />The people have spoken and done so with quite a loud voice. Rand Paul won his election in Kentucky and had the backing of the Tea Party. Marc Rubio won in Florida and he was endorsed by the Tea Party. The republicans took many seats back they lost in 2006 and 2008 and even got a few new ones. The message to the Democrats was sent and only time will tell if they received and read it. I doubt it. I truly doubt that the Democrats will take their party back from the socialist invaders. This Democrat party isn’t the same party as the late President John F Kennedy. <br /><br />By the same token, the Republicans must write a few notes and put them on their refrigerator. They need to daily remind themselves why this fight existed to begin with. They took control and went on a spending spree just like the Democrats did and look what happened. They need to remain fiscally conservative and learn to operate within the means of the government as well as shrinking governmental size.<br /><br />BOTH sides must remember one thing that was clearly evident this election cycle. We voted you in and we can vote you out. The time for political stupidity is long past. They must absolutely listen to their districts and forget their party affiliation. Right? Well not so fast. The party conventions doled out MILLIONS in election dollars to get people elected. To turn their back on their national convention would be suicide. BUT the people voted them in and so it follows that they must be the final voice they hear. Keep the voters engaged. Let them feel as if they can be heard AND listened to and that is a recipe for success next go ‘round.<br /><br />So where do we go from here? The President now has to honestly learn to work with the other side of the aisle. He was given no choice by the people. They voted many of them, to tell him to knock it off, we don’t like it and we don’t want it. Did he hear them? Who knows? Only he and his inner circle know for sure but the fact still remains that he must work with his “enemies” otherwise he is a do nothing President. It remains to be seen whether our President will offer a hardy congratulatory handshake or just give empty lip service. Regardless of how he proceeds one thing is certain, the offer of bipartisanship must come from him and it must be an honest offer. They complain about the deficit yet refuse to acknowledge the deficit was run up by them! The POTUS blames Bush yet the Congress was controlled by them! They (Congress) write the checks not the POTUS so how is it his fault?! <br /><br />Since Washington doesn't appear to be listening how do we get their attention? They whine about money, ours and theirs.... course in their eyes that is the same thing. Anyway they complain about the economy and the lack of money coming in by taxes so they talk about raising taxes on those making over $250,000. I've had a few jobs in my day and I don't recall getting one from someone on welfare. <br /><br />We need to move to the Fairtax! Everyone pays the same percentage.<br /><br />The best change is to get rid of them all! Vote them all out! Of course they could pass term limits. BOTH parties act in their own political self interest and do whatever it takes to stay in office.<br /><br />According to the Social Security web site "There will be no increase in Social Security benefits payable in January 2010, nor will there be an increase in SSI payments.” However, they have seen fit to fund electronic medical records to the tune of $24,000,000. In the economic uncertain times we are in, shouldn’t we trust our seasoned citizens with their own money? Wouldn’t that $24,000,000 be better off in the hands of the public?<br /><br />We elected them to represent us and it seems clear to me that the majority of Americans want them to slow down. Health care didn’t get bloated or distorted overnight and so we shouldn’t try to fix it overnight. I believe that the Republicans have the right idea. Health insurance portability is an idea whose time has come. We should be able to shop nation wide for coverage and get the best price.<br /><br />I believe trial lawyers have driven up the cost of health care by too many frivolous law suits. I also believe that some people need to be compensated for unfair or downright bad care. Why can’t we have a board of medical practitioners, one from all disciplines, to decide who gets what? A board of Dr’s that decide whether the care was good or bad and then that decision decides how and if the law suit moves forward. Bad care or bad surgery, move along and sue away. Not bad care, just bad luck? Sorry law suit limit of $$250,000. Ok, maybe not a board. Maybe go to a pseudo-trial with a “jury” of Dr’s. The case gets argued on nothing but the fact of did you or did you not get bad care. Did the Dr in question commit malpractice?<br /><br />I also believe we have people who need health insurance who cannot get it and we need a plan to get them covered. BUT we do not need to add more government bureaucracy to do so. So if you want to create another government agency, then you need to get rid of one that already exists. Or severely trim back a current agency to pay for the new one.<br /><br />However this health care debate turns out, I am sure that the vast majority of Americans will not like it. Many don’t like it now and it hasn’t even been voted on. Congress needs to listen and if they don’t, we need to vote them out this year! Congress hasn’t been listening for quite a while. IF they won’t listen to our voices, they damn well will listen to our votes. Whether you agree with their political stand /ideology or not, they need term limits and we cannot wait on them to do the right thing and make them happen. We have to give them term limits from the voting booth.<br /><br />It is past the time to get involved. Read every line of information you can. We don’t rely on one spice in our food so don’t rely on one source for news and information. It is time that the citizens took back our country from the political robots who have hi-jacked it. A lone political voice screaming into the Washington elite whirlwind hopping to be heard.<br />Our forefathers founded this nation. Not literally, I know that, but they spent hours debating the documents that have defined our nation for over 200 years and until recently, we as Americans lived and died by. Now we are "led" by people/parties/<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">ideologies</span> that want to "fundamentally transform" America. We are "represented" by men and women who <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">refuse</span> to meet with the very people who they represent. We are made fun of, trivialized and flat out ignored. No one in either party has what it takes to call a spade a spade. And when they do get some semblance of a backbone, the national media ignores it or jumps on the bandwagon and joins in the name calling.<br /><span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Washington</span>, you had better wise up. While they maynot be, in some cases, treated as harshly as our Vietnam veterans may have been when they returned, they are not given the honor they should get. Most are given indifference while some our mocked and ridiculed.<br /><br />History has shown that many nations give their warriors a special place both in society and in the hearts of the very people they defend. This place is much deserved. You can rightly judge a nation on how it treats it warriors. Judge the nation on how it treats the very men and women who, without hesitation or reservation, volunteer to lay their life on the line every day in order to keep the battle anywhere but here at home. They leave family and friends behind for months on end in order to ensure that someone else, whom they have never met and might have very little in common with, gets a chance to have a sliver of the freedoms that many here in the U.S. take for granted and place very little thought on or about.<br /><br />Many country's don't allow some of the basic freedoms we have. It isn't every country that allows you to march to <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">the</span> nation's capital and protest. It isn't every country that allows you to write what you want about your government and put it in the paper. In some country's the newspaper is controlled, or at the very least tightly scrutinized and edited, by the government.<br /><br />So when you find someone or some people who take time or make time to ensure that our warriors get the respect they deserve in life OR in death, that person is special. And then to learn he or she is not a veteran and does it out of a love for our men and women in uniform, they become even more special. The emotions and thoughts that veterans feel for these people is very <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">similar</span> to the emotions brought on by watching our flag wave and hearing our anthem play. For both of these, to veterans, are much more than the sum of the parts. I believe, for veterans, the flag and the National Anthem evoke much more emotion and bring it from deeper within than they do for your average citizen. We spent years under that flag, hearing it wave in the wind, feeling it block the sun to cool us in one second and moving away the next allowing the sun to hit our backs. The National Anthem is a song we hear more times a year than I could count.
